Extract Map

Extracts specified map area or the whole input map preserving all rendering and symbology settings to a new map document.

Map document
{in_file}

Input map document for extraction.

Data frame
<data_frame>

Map data frame, from which a new map will be extracted.

Input features
<in_features>

Input features can be specified as follows:

  • ALL_LAYERS - all layers of the active map data frame are extracted.

  • VISIBLE_LAYERS - only those active map layers marked as visible are extracted.

  • SELECTED_LAYERS - extracted layers are selected manually from the contents of the specified frame of the map.

Choose layers
<selected_layers;selected_layers...>

The list of layers of the selected data frame for extraction.

Extraction boundaries
<extraction_boundaries>

Only specified area of the input map can be extracted. The extraction boundaries can be defined following ways:

  • COPY_DATA - select this option if you do not need to set the extraction boundaries.

  • EXTENT - map will be extracted according to the specified extent.

  • FEATURES - all or selected features of the specified polygon layer will be used as a mask.

Extent
<extent>

Specify coordinates of the extraction boundaries.

Provide input layer
<selected_features>

Specify input polygon layer with features that will be used as a mask for the extracted map.

Output map document
<out_file>

Specify output map document.

Output storage
<output_storage>

Specify output data on disk.

Output spatial reference
{spatial_ref}

Specify output spatial reference if required.

Clip features
{clip_features}

Select this option to clip extracted features by the extraction boundaries.

Drop empty layers
{drop_empty_layers}

Select this option to exclude empty layers from the output map.

Add fields with domain and subtype descriptions
{add_domain_descr}

Select this option to add new fields with descriptions of domains and subtypes to output data.

Create check-out replica
{checkout_replica}

Select this option to create checkout replica if you plan to update extracted data and load it back to the input geodatabase.

Replica name
<replica_name>

Specify name for new replica.

Select geodatabase for replication
<workspace_to_replicate>

Select geodatabase for replication.

Create map package
{create_map_package}

Select this option to create a map package in addition to the output map document.

Map package version can be specified (see XTools Pro Options).

Keep map layout
{keep_layout}

Select this option to keep original map layout in the output map document.

Open output map in another ArcMap session
{open_in_another_session}

Open output map document in a new ArcMap window after extraction.

Note:

This XTools Pro geoprocessing tool is similar to the XTools Pro Extract Map tool, but only extracts to new map documents.
