Tools Notifications

XTools Pro provides notifications about completion of both XTools Pro tools and all geoprocessing tools.

Description

Every time, when the tool is completed, succeded or failed, you can get the notification about it. The notification contains the tool name, the tool icon and the completion message with elapsed time. The notification appears in the lower right corner of the screen as standard Windows notifications.

By default, this functionality is enabled for XTools Pro tools only. But you can also turn on the notifications for geoprocessing tools (see XTools Pro Options). In this case the notifications will be shown not only for XTools Pro geoprocessing tools, but for standard Esri geoprocessing tools as well.

Playing sounds

Besides, the notifications can play sounds. It can be specified in XTools Pro Options. You can use default sounds or your own sound files.

You should put your own sound files in the correspondent Windows Media folder to be able to select them later in XTools Pro Options:

C:\Windows\Media\XTools Pro

Please note that ArcMap session must be re-started to use your own sound files with notifications.

Notifications

Tools Notifications as standard Windows notifications are subdued global Windows settings.

Therefore, please make sure that the notifications in general are enabled in Windows settings. It can be checked here:

Start > Settings > System > Notifications & actions

It also applies to playing sounds with notifications. Please make sure that in Windows settings the sounds are allowed to be played:

Notifications cannot be shown if they are enabled in XTools Pro Options but turned off in Windows settings. It relates to playing sounds as well.

 

Color scheme

Dark or light theme of notifications will be applied as it is specified in Windows Personalization Settings for default Windows mode.

 

Note

You can always disable notifications functionality in the XTools Pro Options.
