Batch Export Metadata

Purpose

The tool is provided for creating HTML files with metadata in the specified folder. For each selected dataset the separate HTML file is created. That is, you can promptly create HTML files with metadata for a large bulk of data.  

The resulted HTML files can be used for publishing or during geoprocessing.

Available styles:

  • XTools Pro Metadata

The list of metadata styles may vary depending on specific ArcGIS parameters and other installed extensions working with metadata.

All the styles are stored in the folder: %programfiles(x86)%\ArcGIS\Desktop<version>\Metadata\Config

The metadata styles “XTools Pro …” are added by the XTools Pro installation.

Metadata transformation file

The transformation file allows converting metadata from the inner ArcGIS format to the format of the selected style. The appropriate format of the transformation file is automatically specified for each style. A unique transformation file may be selected, if needed.

The standard transformation files are stored in the folder:  %programfiles(x86)%\ArcGIS\Desktop<version>\Metadata\Translator\Transforms

Metadata HTML template file

The template file is used as a reference about how the created HTML file should look like. For each style the appropriate format of the template file is automatically specified. If needed, a unique template file can be selected.

The standard template files are stored in the folder:  %programfiles(x86)%\ArcGIS\Desktop<version>\Metadata\Stylesheets
