Find Dataset in Catalog

Purpose

The new tiny feature allows to quickly find datasets in Catalog for the items (layers, tables) selected in the Contents pane in ArcGIS Pro.

Description

The Find Dataset in Catalog tool opens Catalog Pane in ArcGIS Pro and navigates to the selected layer's data source. If Catalog Pane is not open at the moment its window is added with the found location open. Then in Catalog it's possible to view datasets properties and description and perform other operations with found datasets.

Supported formats are – SHP, DBF, KML/KMZ, raster data (TIFF, JPG, IMG and etc), CAD-data (DGN, DWG, DXF), TXT, XLS/XLSX, CSV, LAS, TIN-data and elements of geodatabases (tables, feature classes, raster datasets, raster mosaic, relationship classes, annotations, terrains, parcel fabric datasets, geometry nets, network datasets).

Usage

The tool is available from the layer's context menu.

The tool icon may be disabled for unsupported layers (e.g. topology) or if the selected layer has an invalid source path.

Select one of the elements in the Contents pane (layer or table), then in the element's context menu select Find Dataset in Catalog. The Catalog Pane window will appear with the requested dataset location open.
